Great On-time Performance. It's About Time.
We know your time is important and we aim to keep our schedule so you can plan with confidence. Virgin Blue has maintained the best on-time departures performance of all domestic carriers since records began – something we’re a little proud of.
On this page you’ll see no fudging of the figures, no blurring of the lines, and certainly no asterisks – there’s simply no need to. Safe, on-time operations are paramount to our business and we have the figures to prove it.
At Virgin Blue we measure our on-time performance as all flights that depart within 15 minutes of their stated departure time. We make no exception for bad weather, air traffic control, delays from suppliers, unscheduled maintenance, consequences of previous delays or anything else for that matter - for us on-time means on-time... no exceptions.

Like all other Australian domestic carriers and in accordance with industry standards, we report our on-time performance data to the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE). It is this information that we used to formulate the graphs below.
We have worked hard with Department of Transport and Regional Services and other stakeholders to agree on a set of rules for reporting on-time performance data and are complying with these.
Furthermore we have asked the Department of Transport to conduct regular independent audits of all airlines’ data so that the integrity of this important report is maintained.
