Media release: Pacific Blue proudly sponsors the Crystal Brook Classic for the third time

Clements Gap Wind Farm - SA

Pacific Blue was proud to again sponsor the Crystal Brook Classic Athletics Carnival on Saturday 19 October 2024, the third year we’ve supported the event in South Australia’s mid-north region. The Classic is a free community event showcasing the best amateur athletes in the sport of running.

Hosted by the local Crystal Brook Football Club and the South Australian Athletic League, the Classic sees competitors and spectators from within the region as well as further afield from Adelaide and even interstate all come together to attend.
It’s a major attraction for the local community, which is why Pacific Blue has contributed a significant grant for the event through the Clements Gap Sustainable Community Fund over the past three years.

“It’s absolutely wonderful to have a company like Pacific Blue to support our country athletic meet,” said Kym Steer, President of the South Australian Athletic League. “These communities are brought together by that sort of sponsorship and support.”
In addition to the funding, our people were on hand on the day to lend their support and some of the Suzlon team who work on site at the Clements Gap Wind Farm helped put the event together.

“It’s important local events like this that are the lifeblood of communities and it’s truly heartening to see in person how our Community Funds are helping to make them a reality for the people who live and work near our Clements Gap site,” said Lachlan Sturt, Pacific Blue’s Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager.

“What was inspiring for me was seeing the community come together in real time to carry out this event. Seeing the support from local small businesses, like a local motor repair workshop and a local cafe, and then seeing the local football club, the netball club, the tennis club all represented — everyone all coming together to help showcase what a special part of the world Crystal Brook sits in.”

Community representatives also shared their appreciation for the support from Pacific Blue.

“It’s hard to fundraise in a local community. There’s only so many businesses and supporters that generously give their time and their finance. So, to have Pacific Blue that’s invested in the area, that fits with our morals and values come on board is amazing,” said Lee Jackson, Committee Member of the Crystal Brook Football Club.

“We’re also a business that operates locally and I’m proud that we’re able to help such an example of community unity,” said Lachlan. “That we’re better together is part of what we stand for at Pacific Blue and seeing it in action here is a great feeling”.
